    1. Thanks Tracey! I feel so organised now, after spending a lot of time studying, the latest portrait has come up quickly, though I'm still in the midst of learning, it's great to finally get into some actual painting.

    1. La Abela, I'm not always this tidy, I did have to do a bit of a clean up before taking these photos :) I'm naturally a clutter bug so I have to keep on top of that.

Thank you for sharing your very beautiful studio and palette. It inspires me to start working on mine right now, as it is a pit! It is hard to proceed with a project when you have your materials in 6 or 7 different places on three floors!

    1. Gloria, Tell me about it! All my brushes were in a big tin, and some where in a jar, others in another jar, some where in the turps (bad I know), making it hard to find and use them. If you can't find it straight way you waste time locating it and if you can't find it quickly, you maize as well not have (own) it. I'm a clutter bug by nature, so it's not that easy for me to keep a tidy studio. Sometimes I'm more organized than other times, I'm trying really hard to keep things I use all together. Good luck with your organizing.

I love that feeling of voyeurism that comes with peeking into others work spaces! :-) your portrait is lovely-- you've captured a strong sense of personality on canvas...

  13. this portrait is wonderful with great character
so fun to see your studio
is that glass that you use as a palette? seems like a wonderful idea.

    1. Tammy, yes it's a glass palette. It is easier to clean, you can just scrap off the paint once dried. This is the type of palette, John Howard Sanden uses, I have been studying his painting methods.

  16. Oh, these pictures make me happy. You have such a beautiful work space.
I just can't paint in a mess, and have to tidy up before I can even think of starting. Same goes for my house, I can't paint if there are dishes in the sink and the bed isn't made.
