P&P: Excitement, Ideas, Happy Holidays & an Angel

Thursday, Thursday! Time to share my Palette & Paint!

All the explanation marks are because I'm excited! I've been painting!  It's a true pleasure to be able to dedicate so much time to my art.  I'm passionate about creating beautiful paintings that brighten days and make people ponder and smile.  I feel extremely lucky to be able to do what I enjoy as my full-time job.

So, what have I been painting you may ask?  I've worked a bit more on 'He Loves Me', her hands and dress are taking shape, getting more form and more paint. Oh and I gave her some 'modesty' by covering up her cleavage, I like it better like this. I'll need to tone down and form the pink top, though.

Here's what my palette looks like at the moment:

Isn't oil paint LUSH?

Also last night I had a sudden brain wave about what I was going to put in the background of 'Valentine and Her Cat', you know how I was not quite sure about the pink? Can you guess from the photo below what I'm thinking?

This is going to be so fun! I can't wait to get into it, I'll have to wait for the yellow layer of oil paint to dry before I can do any more. It's a good thing I'm using an absorbent ground with fast drying mediums, fingers cross I can start on it tomorrow afternoon, I'm very keen to paint the background, can you tell?

Did you notice my Happy Holidays banner at the top of my blog, it's courtesy of Geri from My Heart Art. If you pop on over to her blog you will find the HTML code and instructions to put one on your own blog. Geri is also running a giveaway on her blog, how generous is she? If you'd like to be in the draw head on over to this post and find out more.

Now it's your turn, if you'd like to share your palette and paints (or perhaps some other studio equipment you use to create), please feel free to join in and link below.

  1. I just wanted to let you know I won't be able to join in on the paint palette-y fun this week because my computer is in intensive care, so I can't upload photos right now. Hopefully, I'll be back next week! LOVE your painting, it's coming along so beautifully! And yes, oil IS lush, but how do you manage to be so patient- I'd be dying to carry on especially at such a gorgeous point....

  2. Thanks for letting me know the reason you won't be joining in this week Stephanie, I hope your computer comes back better than ever and quickly, I know how much we depend on them to communicate.

When I paint, I paint in bursts and then let it sit and develop, and I work on a few at a time, so I don't mind too much about the waiting.
As I said, with the fast dry medium and the absorbent ground, the paint dries very quickly. The yellow I put on the background yesterday afternoon (4pm-ish) is actually dry now, (it's 10.20am the next morning here).

I used to paint in Acrylic, and like to use the Acrylic Glazing Medium by Golden, I found it to be really great because it opened the time you could push around the paint, and also gave it a glossy finish. Here's a link to the Glazing medium I recommend you trying (if you have not already):https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=185759949094&set=a.176661059094.122732.119894169094&type=3&theater

    Have a fantastic weekend! xx
