PALETTE & PAINT: Painting Hands.
This week is dedicated to finalizing the paintings I've started with hands in them. It's a Thursday afternoon here, with the work week almost over, I can happily say I'm well on my way to accomplishing this weekly goal, it's amazing what focus and sticking to a plan can do! Here's what's on my desk for Palette & Paint. I've started using a palette knife for pre-mixing my colours. I'm finding it is a lot better than the brush for mixing large amounts of colour and getting an even mix with minimal paint wastage. Do you mix with a brush or a knife, and why?

I used to use a palette knife all the time for large amounts of paint, but never seem to mix that much anymore so stick with a brush.... but it is a mangy old brush that is so hard that it may as well be a palette knife... loving seeing the new work... I have been drawing hands today as you inspired me... didn't venture into paint with it really, but had fun with the drawing...xx

DeleteIt's been a while since I used a knife too, now that I'm getting thicker in my paint applications, it makes sense to use a knife.
Cool, I'd love to see your hand drawings, I bet they are great!
I generally use a palette knife, but if I want a mottled look, I will use a brush. You never know what amazing colors will happen, but I am more of an impressionist painter, so that pleases me.
