STUDIO UPDATE: I'm seeing more than just Pink & Purple

I had my  Paint Party Friday blog post all organised ahead of time on my phone this week, and was very proud of myself for being on top of things, however when it came to publish time, the darn thing would not cooperate. After quite a few attempts and a little frustration, I logged into publish my post from blogger, only to find it was not in my drafts. So here I am, posting late (again).

This week was a productive one, and I have lots of photos to share, please bare with me.

I moved onto painting the Petunias on the big garden painting!

As you can see above, my original practice flowers were way to big for the big canvas.

Hello Mr Lizard!  I have started to paint the flowers in.

I needed to extend my palette after re-watching Carol Marines ArtByte Tutorial on mixing colours.

Also some of my paintings have been up at The Collective Store for the last couple of weeks.

I finally got to editing and sharing them!

Last but not least, Here is my {Flashback Friday} painting. I've been sharing an older painting each week with my Facebook and Instagram friends, and now I'll be sharing it with my blog friends too.

Have a fun and productive week everyone!

STUDIO UPDATE: Painting Petunias!

Hi there Paint Party Friday friends and those that follow along with my Studio Updates each week.  Well, it's FRIDAY again! (9pm here mind you). What a week! I did get my paints out this week after a long drawing and study break, and oh my, it's so nice to be playing around with paint again, I did miss it. All my sketching and lessons have not been in vain though, I'm seeing the fruits of my labour.

Testing out different colour combinations for the Petunias.

 NEW PAINT!
I just was not happy with the vibrancy of my mixes
so I invested in these single pigment paints and they are brilliant.

Playing with paint! The practices are coming along nicely.

STUDIO UPDATE: Petunia Drawings.

Hi there!
It's great to be back updating my blog and joining in on Paint Party Friday again.
I missed you all last week.

I'm up to drawing the petunia in 3d after having done some study on drawing 3d shapes

It has helped a lot doing the drawing lessons because now I can give my artwork more depth.

When I compare my progress between the Petunias I drew before the 3d lesson (2nd photo in this post) and the ones I draw after (first photo), I'm very happy with the result. I'm doing a little happy dance like the character above on the left.

Looking forward to visiting my Painting Party Friday friends and seeing what everyone has been up to this week.  Wishing you all a productive and creative coming week. xx

Studio Update: 3D Drawing Animation

I've been continuing with the 3D animation drawing lessons I spoke of last week. I've moved on from the sack drawings to drawing this one character in different poses. These lessons are helping me a lot. I can't wait to get stuck into animating the Petunias when I'm finished with the different  poses.

Legs emerge.

Drawing hands and feet.

Eyes following contours of sphere.

The character standing.

There are many of my drawings I have not shown here, if I did, this post would go on forever... that's an exaggeration, but it would be mighty long.

Sharing late for PPF via my phone, so fingers crossed it works.

STUDIO UPDATE: Moving onto the flowers!

This week has been quite exciting around the studio.

I've started practicing the Petunia flowers for the garden painting.

Above is a quick sketch in paint to understand the Petunia from different angles.

I found an excellent video on You Tube and did the above watercolour and pen sketch.
I must say, every time I get out the watercolours, I find a new respect for artist that work in this medium as their profession.

I then did some sketching in pen, simplifying the front on view of the Petunia.

And I am now in the process of doing some 3d animation studies to understand basic forms,
so I can get my head around flipping and changing the positioning of the Petunias.

I'm working my way through the Karmatoons Drawing Lessons.

I'm already starting to get a better grasp on perspective and changing the angles of shapes.

Isn't this sack CUTE!? It's taking on a life of its own.

Looking forward to visiting my Painting Party Friday friends and seeing what everyone has been up to this week.  Wishing you all a productive and creative coming week. xx
