Goodbye 15kgs!

Today is one of those happy dance days. This morning at my weekly weigh-in I smashed the 15 kg milestone I set, losing .9 kgs over my weekly goal.  My weight is slowly creeping down, or to use a metaphor I've adopted from the start (thanks to Tracey FK's daughter) those rice bags are slowly being dumped off.

What really kick me along this week was going back to regular exercise, which has been very hap-hazard lately. I set a schedule for exercising and filled out a weekly meal plan (mostly just dinner, as I'm doing meal replacements with light snacks in between). Being prepared and focused makes all the difference for me. If I don't have that structure I end up floundering and then the whole week is gone and I've done very little towards my goals.

Pin-ter-vention: Choc-Peanut Cookies

Today I want to share with you, and my friends over at the Pinterest party the protein cookies I made this afternoon for a healthy snack option. They are based off a recipe I found on Pinterest.  I added cocoa to mine to make them choc-peanut cookies and used my 'Vanilla Be Good To Yourself Protein Shake' in them. Here's how they turned out:

Below is photo from the original recipe:

For those that don't know, six months ago, I made a decision to commitment to eating healthy and exercising regularly with the goal of getting fit and healthy and getting rid of some {quite a bit} of extra weight.  It's been a while since I've done a blog update about my weight loss journey, so I'll tell you a little bit about it thus far. In order to stick to my goal to get fit and healthy, I sort out help from the local pharmacy.  I've been taking meal replacement -protein shakes and bars- for some meals and eating a balanced plate for two of my main meals, along with two to three healthy snack through the day. I've also been doing regular exercise, which helps a lot.  I see an Amcal weight management consultant each week who weighs and measures me and takes my body fat reading. She is there to answer any questions I may have about the exercise and eating program.  She also offers support and accountability. So far it's working out great. In the last 6 months I have lost 13.9kg, which works out to be over 500g per week. I'm really happy with the slow and steady weight loss and how much better I'm feeling.

Now to get back to painting, I'm working on these two pieces today for an upcoming show.

Goodbye 10kgs!

11 weeks ago I made the commitment to adjust my lifestyle, lose some weight, eat healthy and exercise regularly. I was sick of the weight slowly creeping on, so I said to myself 'enough is enough!'  and I enlisted the help of a weight management consultant who would weigh and measure me weekly to track my progress {to act as someone I was accountable to} and give me advice and a specialized eating and exercise plan. So 11 weeks down the track and I'm happy to announce that I've lost 10.3 kgs {or 10 rice bags for those who have been following my progress reports and know the analogy}.

10 Bags of Rice down, 30 to go!

I even have a certificate to
prove it, how cool is that?!

I have set myself the goal of losing 1kg a week and each month {or 4 weeks} I have a little mile stone to access that goal and make sure I'm on track. I really want to reach my 12kgs in 12 weeks mini goal, which is next week. In order to do it, I need to lose 1.7 kg this week, which is totally doable if I put my mind to it, as I lost 1.3kgs this week. Wish me determintation and motivation!

4 More Rice Bags gone!

'What am I talking about?' I'll tell you, when I started my Amcal weight management program and had lost 2kg, a good friend of mine's daughter pointed out that that's like losing 2 bags of rice, so ever since I have thought of it like that, and used the visual aid of bags of rice to think about my achievements and inspire me to lose more weight and get fitter. Imagine the energy it takes to carry 40kg's of rice around all day long? It's a lot, and I'm slowly working towards ditching that extra weight, one bag each week.

Today marks two month into my weight management journey. So far I have lost 8.1kg. I'm feeling so much better for damping those 8 rice bags. I know some of my readers struggle with their own weight/health/fitness too, and I wanted to share this great post from Pinterest with you. It sums up all the advise I'd give to anyone wanting to lose a little or a lot of weight and get fit and healthy.

We'll it's off to finish making my dinner! Tracey xx

A different kind of Art and some painting.

The Art of Cooking. I've been making healthy dinners lately, and there is a certain art to that, not only in the presentation, but also the way it's prepared and also what the meal is made up of.  Here are some of my creations:

Today marks a month into my weight management journey, I've decided to make a commitment to eating healthy and exercising regullary. Every week I see my Amcal weight management consultant and she weighs and measures me and takes my body fat reading. She also answers any questions I have about the program. So far I have lost 4.5kg. When I think about it, that's massive.  Think about carrying 4 x 1kg bags of rice around all day, when I do I think boy oh boy! Just looking at 4kgs of rice makes me exhausted!

Though I have more energy from losing those rice bags, I still have been finding it difficult to get going of a morning and get the creative juices flowing because I have been sore and have had tired muscles. As you may know, it takes a lot of energy and focus to paint. I have to keep telling myself just to start and the rest will happen, because once I'm doing it, it's hard to stop (a bit like exercising, the first step on the treadmill is the hardest).

So here's my progress on my self portrait:

Time to pick up the paint brushes and push some paint around, wishing you all a productive day!  Tracey xx
